Lobby Day
NYSSPA’s annual Lobby Day is a powerful tradition that brings together PAs and PA students from across New York State to speak up for our profession.
It’s more than a visit to Albany — it’s a chance to build connections, share our stories, and advocate for the future of healthcare in New York. By showing up as a united community, we help lawmakers understand how PAs are critical to patient care, access, and innovation.
Whether you're a practicing PA, a student, or a lifelong advocate, your voice matters. Come be part of something bigger — and help shape the future of the PA profession in New York.
Participants highlighted the urgent need to modernize practice laws in order to expand access to high-quality care for all New Yorkers. A central focus of the day was Assembly Bill A.7988, championed by Assemblymember Amy Paulin, which proposes updating outdated supervisory requirements and allowing experienced PAs greater autonomy while maintaining a commitment to team-based care. The conversations throughout the day underscored the importance of empowering PAs to practice to the full extent of their training, ultimately helping to alleviate the state’s healthcare workforce shortage and improve patient outcomes statewide.
